Newsjacking Workflow
Tell Featured who you speak for and what they can credibly comment on. Each run scans about the last 16 hours of clustered coverage, keeps stories with multi-outlet momentum, and emails cards with the story, an angle, why it fits, and links to the coverage. Add city markets when you want local angles. From a card, open chat to find journalists and podcasts to pitch.

How Workflows work
Tell Featured who you speak for, what they know, when to look, and where to send results.
Who it is for, and what they know
Name a brand or a spokesperson, list expertise beats, and optionally add city markets, countries, one language, and topics to leave out.
Breakout scan each run
Every scheduled run clusters coverage from about the last 16 hours, compares it with recent baseline for those beats, and keeps stories that match who you speak for.
A digest you can act on
Cards arrive with the story, a commentary angle, why it fits, and supporting outlets. Open chat from a card to look up journalists, requests, and podcasts. You review and send.
Why Newsjacking through Featured
Trend monitoring matters when the card already has an angle you can use.
Signal
Breakout, not noise
Clusters have to show multi-outlet momentum against a recent baseline, so the digest is stories that are actually moving — keyword mentions that never spread stay out.
Angle
A card you can pitch from
Each story includes the headline, what happened, a commentary angle, why it fits this spokesperson or brand, and links to the coverage behind it.
Speed
Built for the news cycle
New workflows check every 15 minutes. Every 30 minutes, an hourly window, daily, weekly, monthly, and every N days are in the wizard. Nothing sends on your behalf.
Want source requests too?
Newsjacking starts from the breaking story. The Journalist Requests workflow watches HARO, Connectively, Substack, and X for asks that match your beats.

Newsjacking workflow — frequently asked questions
What is newsjacking?
Newsjacking is the PR practice of tying your expertise to a breaking story while journalists and audiences are still paying attention. This workflow watches clustered coverage in your beats and emails story cards with a commentary angle and the outlets behind the story. You decide what to pitch.
How does breakout detection work?
Each run clusters articles from about the last 16 hours, compares that volume with recent coverage of the same beats, and keeps stories that match your brand or spokesperson, expertise, and any city markets you added. Mentions that never spread across outlets stay out of the digest.
Is this hourly or daily?
New workflows default to every 15 minutes. Newsjacking also supports every 30 minutes, an hourly window (runs every N hours inside hours you choose), and daily at a time you pick. Weekly, monthly, and every-N-days options are available too. Faster schedules mean more runs and higher usage.
How is this different from Monitor HARO or Journalist Requests?
Monitor HARO watches HARO editions. Journalist Requests monitors source-request feeds across platforms. Newsjacking starts from breaking coverage in your beats and writes a commentary angle for each story. From a card you can open chat to look for journalists, requests, and podcasts to pitch.
Does the email send pitches for me?
No. The digest explains the story and an angle. A link on each card opens Featured chat so you can look up journalists, requests, and podcasts related to that story. You send from your own inbox when you are ready.
Do I need a paid plan?
Workflows are available on every plan, including Free. Runs consume usage like other templates; external news search spend is metered like other paid API calls. Upgrade when you want higher caps.
Which languages and countries are supported?
Each workflow keeps stories in one language (English by default). Optionally limit coverage to ISO country codes, or leave countries empty. City markets are separate: pick cities in the wizard when you want local angles alongside the national scan.
