I am an experienced social scientist with expertise in gender, the politics of migration, qualitative research methods, participatory research, contemporary Asian societies and economies, cross-Strait relations. During my tenure track at the University of Lancashire, I founded and directed various research institutes, including the Northern Institute of Taiwan Studies, the Centre for Migration, Diaspora and Exile, and the Centre for Migration Diaspora and Exile. I also am Editor-in-Chief of the peer reviewed journal Asia Pacific Viewpoint.
