An award-winning writer, artist, and educator, recognized as the first scholar to defend a Ph.D. dissertation in the form of a rap album. I serve as the only tenured Associate Professor of Hip-Hop in the United States at the University of Virginia, where my work integrates academic research, creative practice, and cultural critique. My scholarship, music, and public commentary examine Black storytelling, identity, and the sociopolitical dimensions of hip-hop. Aim to demonstrate how the genre functions as a critical framework for understanding contemporary culture and issues of justice.
