Matthias Beier, Ph.D., is Associate Professor of Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Pastoral Theology at Christian Theological Seminary. He has served on the Indiana State Suicide Advisory Committee. A nationally certified psychoanalyst and spiritually integrated counselor, he is the author of three books on faith, culture, and mental health, including A Violent God-Image, and a leading voice in the international movement inspired by bestselling author Eugen Drewermann to reclaim the healing and liberating message of Jesus. He holds a Master of Divinity degree and a PhD in Psychology and Religion and has served as a United Methodist minister. Beier writes the Substack newsletter, Religion and Society on the Couch.
