One of the things that worked best for me was creating a layered feeding area for hummingbirds. I put up multiple feeders with a mix of homemade nectar and native flowering plants for natural food sources. Within a few weeks I noticed a steady increase in hummingbirds in the early mornings. What surprised me was how the birds adapted to the placement and timing, they would come at the same time every day. This taught me to observe natural behavior and combine artificial and organic attractants. I also learned that cleanliness and rotating nectar is key; otherwise the feeders become useless. Overall I learned that patience, attention to detail and aligning with natural patterns can make a big difference in creating a bird friendly habitat.
