I'm writing a piece on the recent trend of schools, including Stanford, Columbia, and SDA Bocconi, disappearing from major rankings such as the FT, Fortune, and The Economist in recent years. It's partly due to schools being unable to collect enough responses from their alumni, and partly due to frustration with perceived unfair methodology. I want to explore the impact this has on students—whether rankings still hold the same prestige and how students are comparing schools (e.g., employment reports or alternative rankings based on measures like social impact or career outcomes). I'd like to hear from some non-elite schools to get their perspectives.
