I’m looking for advice from real estate investors, event planners, and other experts on what it takes to turn a rental property into an events venue for weddings or other gatherings. Can any residential property be used for events, or does it need to be rezoned for commercial use—and if so, how do you navigate that process? What insurance does an event venue require and where do you get it? How can you get help drafting a contract for how the space should be used, and what is important to include? Could resources like water, electricity, or septic be strained, and if so, what can you do to ensure you have sufficient capacity? I’d also appreciate any stories about setting up your own event venue.
