I'm looking at the use and effectiveness of sports diplomacy for emerging countries in this time of the World Cup, LIV Golf's struggles, the rise of Saudi Arabia in the global sports scene, and the quest for African nations to get onto the global stage with sports. I'm seeking experts on the international business of sports and how sports can open diplomatic and economic channels between nations.
1) How can sports diplomacy improve a given nation's international positioning?
2) How can sports diplomacy bring nations together that would not connect otherwise?
3) Is there danger of nations using sports to hide troubled histories or avoid consequences for internationally rejected behavior?
Let me know your thoughts. Thank you.
