Sam saw opportunity in the banana business, a market dominated by a cartel. He didn't back down. Instead, he learned the ins and outs of the trade. He sold brown spotted bananas, which others saw as undesirable. His innovative approach was to transport them faster, delivering them before they turned completely brown. His intimate knowledge of the business led him to this unique idea. His focus was on the small details that improved efficiency, like better shipping methods and improved crop yields. He wasn't selling the best bananas, just the same ones more efficiently. Zemurray's enterprise became so successful that it was bought by the industry giant, United Fruit. His story shows that success can come from focusing on the details, and not being afraid of challenges.

Despite being born into a wealthy family in India and growing up in a privileged environment, he chose to start at the bottom and work as a clerk in a tiny company. Due to his determination, he soon ascended through the ranks, and in 1991, he became the chairman of the Tata Group, one of India's greatest conglomerates, and supervised its huge expansion. He is a self-made man whose achievement is a source of inspiration for entrepreneurs like me who dared to start from scratch with eyes full of dreams. Despite his enormous prosperity, he is always giving back to society. Two-thirds of the Tata Group is owned by philanthropic entities. What amazes many, including me, is that he has managed to maintain simplicity and humility despite being one of the world's richest individuals.
