As a beauty editor, one unexpected challenge was navigating the technical aspects of LED light therapy. Although the science seemed straightforward, determining the right wavelength, intensity and treatment regimen for different skin types and concerns required extensive research and testing. To overcome this, my co-founder and I spent over a year researching studies on light therapy and consulting with dermatologists. We tested various prototypes on a diverse range of skin types to determine the optimal combination of wavelengths and treatment times to address aging, acne and overall skin health. The end result was our multi-wavelength mask which allows users to customize their treatment based on their unique needs and sensitivity levels. Keeping affordable yet effective products has been an ongoing challenge in an industry focused on quick fixes and fads. But by taking a scientific, medical-grade approach and dedicating ourselves to creating a high-quality product at an atrainable price point, we’ve been able to bring the power of light therapy out of dermatology clinics and into people’s homes. As a boudoir photographer, one unexpected challenge I faced was learning to guide clients of all body types in front of the camera. I had to get creative with posing and styling to make each woman feel comfortable and highlight her unique beauty. To overcome this, I spent extra time with clients discussing their concerns and figuring out what made them feel most confident. I found simple techniques, like draping fabric over problem areas or focusing on facial expressions, created sensual photos for women of any size or shape. Using flattering props and lighting also helped camouflage perceived flaws. Another hurdle was keeping up with changing trends in lingerie and styling. The boudoir industry moves fast, with new brands and styles appearing constantly. I dealt with this by building a large collection of options in studio and keeping an open dialogue with clients about the looks they found most appealing and seductive. Staying on the cutting edge requires continuous research and an ability to determine what styles are most flattering and empowering, not just what’s new and trendy. Through customized sessions, an empathy for women’s body image struggles, and a dedication to timeless feminine sensuality over passing fads, I’ve been able to overcome obstacles and capture countless clients’ beauty.
