To make it even more interesting, we had a competition, Bake-off, where we encouraged local non-professional bakers to bring their baked items. The winners received cash awards and free dishes from our bakery. This built a sense of competition and community, which created positive associations with our brand. The result was wonderful. Our foot traffic increased by almost fifty percent, sales rose substantially, and, more importantly, we got closer to our community members.
