Part of maintaining positive culture is making sure employees are happy with both their work and life balance. That’s why we’ve started offering employees flexible work hours so they can work when they feel most productive. This gives them the opportunity to spend more time with their families and do other things they enjoy while still getting their work done. Not only does this benefit our workers, but it also helps us because they’re more motivated to work hard when they can see their work actually having an impact.
Once a month we will try to go to a company happy hour at the local restaurant next door to our office. We will stop work an hour early and everyone goes to the restaurant for an hour or so. The company will run a tab and get a bunch of appetizers for everyone to share. It's an excellent way to get everyone out of their work environment and get to know each other better personally. Since starting this 3 years ago I can tell that it has dynamically increases our company culture in a positive way. I have seen employees that have never talked before in the office strike up a conversation at our happy hour outing and realize they have some of the same hobbies. Now they are close friends at work and discuss their hobbies on a regular basis.
