These are things that would be good for the position. They are aware that even though they are perfectly capable of performing the job, the fact that they were on pregnancy leave for a year somehow might get flagged and then screen out the resume, which has nothing to do with their ability to do the job. AND the companies themselves and hiring managers are not benefiting from a lot of their usage of this technology as well. How to change that, I guess, would be to sit down with everybody involved. The CEO, the HR lead, and the hiring manager, etc and map out what the exact steps are that are required in this system to go from sourcing > recruitment > hiring > onboarding. Ask yourselves, What is the best person or tool for the job? Then, if AI is the best solution for that step, what is the subsystem that we need to develop within the AI to not only screen, but to proactively surface the best talent. I think if you do that, you'll be a lot better off, and the candidates would have less anxiety.
The big worry with AI resume screening is that a candidate won't even get a real chance because their resume was rejected by an algorithm.
