Arts education is essential. Art is a visual portal to access history in a beautiful and engaging way. As a personal example, I grew up studying art history and in medical school, I realized that my visual skills and love for art could be applied to a career as a radiologist. I was able to meld and create synergy between my two interests. My experience with art has benefited immensely my pattern recognition as a radiologist.
