“Erin Brockovich” (2020), starring an amazing Julia Roberts. Oldie but goodie. I believe it’s one of the most uplifting, women-empowering, and inspiring movies for all single moms ever. What’s more, it is based on a true story. The movie is about having guts and how far it can take you. Erin Brockovich, an unemployed single mum of three, is desperate for a job. Landing one as a secretary in a law firm, Erin finds herself up against a multibillion-dollar corporation responsible for poisoning the local water supply. No spoilers! Must-watch.
I think I'll have to go with Room. Brie Larson is superb in the role of a mother caring for her six-year-old son, Jack, who is superbly played by Jacob Tremblay, who, by the way, was robbed of an Oscar. Both actors are incredible, and they know how to deliver an emotional performance. The clincher comes when Jack is in the police car late at night and sees his mother run up to him; I'm a blubbering wreck every time that scene plays. It's one of my favorite movies of all time, and the book is even better and well worth a read.
One of the best single mom movies that one certainly watches is Little Man Tete. The phenomenal performance of Jodie Foster has made this a work of art. The movie talks about the struggle that a single mom has to make while raising her kids. And when the kid is a prodigy, the struggle is more. It’s an oldie but a goodie. It’s heart-wracking to see how a mother has to hide her emotions and struggle in front of the kids to make sure that they don’t have emotional damage. Every scene of the movie will make you learn something about parenting.
Little Man Tate Now for something unrelated to the topic. In the film Little Man Tate, Jodie Foster plays the role of a single mother tasked with raising a little boy who is much too intelligent for his good. It doesn't take long into the movie until we see how his brightness causes him to be isolated and lonely. The narrative may concentrate mainly on Tate and his efforts to balance the world of geniuses and the world of regular people. Still, it also demonstrates how difficult it can be for a single parent to raise exceptional children, each in their unique manner.
Room The story of Room centers on a mother who, to put it bluntly, became pregnant against her will and gave birth to a child in "the worst possible setting" for raising a child. Mommy Dearest You'll have to reevaluate all you think you know about parenthood after watching this biographical film about Joan Crawford and the terrifying events she put her adoptyour best tip Helicopter Elisa Overprotective mother Eela Eela (Kajol) exhausts all attempts t with and comprehend Vivan.
I would suggest watching the movie, Precious. Just because everyone said it was a list about single mothers doesn't imply every mother on the list will be an ideal angel. However, the reality of motherhood is that it beats some people down and ushers the very worst of them to the surface. Although this movie isn't entirely based on a single mother's journey, I cherished Mo'Nique's performance. I watched the film and found myself clinging to the fists whenever she talked or came on screen as she was terrified of a character.
Being a single mom is genuinely challenging and some movies depict this in very inspiring ways. Good Night Mommy is one of the movies I have watched that has truly given me insights on the struggles that single mothers go through. It is about a mother of twins who gets home from some reconstructive surgery only to find her sons acting rather strangely towards her. This movie will keep you guessing up until the end, and its ending really sells the whole film. It almost warrants an immediate second viewing.
