Open journals are my first go-to for the latest research. I also like how broad the Google Scholar search engine is. AJOT is another excellent resource, but its search-ability is finicky. I often find what I need from AJOT, on the Google Scholar search engine first.
Occupational therapists can stay current with the latest research and interventions by actively participating in research studies. By being involved in research, therapists contribute to the development of new interventions and gain firsthand knowledge of emerging practices. For example, I recently participated in a study investigating the effectiveness of a novel cognitive training program for adults with traumatic brain injury. Through this study, I learned about cutting-edge techniques and interventions for cognitive rehabilitation, enhancing my ability to provide evidence-based therapy to my patients. Engaging in research studies allows occupational therapists to stay updated with the latest findings, implementing evidence-based interventions that can improve patient outcomes.
