Balancing a training regimen with maintaining a personal life as a professional athlete is challenging, and I believe balance isn't always realistic. Each season of life requires sacrifice, and it's essential for athletes to be single-minded in their pursuits. If anyone is going to go after God's will for their life, they need to be intentional about the people they let into their life, as well as their commitments and schedule. One strategy I teach my clients is the skill of radical acceptance. There will be days and times when maintaining your single-mindedness in training will require significant sacrifices. As Apostle Paul says in Philippians 3:14, "I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus." Embracing this perspective helps athletes accept their sacrifices to achieve their goals.
