One of the most influential pieces of advice I ever received shaped my view of personal branding - hence why it's so important. The person casually said, "If you don't know what you're bringing to the table, you won't get a seat there." It was a passing comment, but it got me thinking about how life is one big networking adventure, a big pitch you practice daily. Think about it. In a sense, personal branding is like the day-night cycle; it will happen whether we work at it or not — except that it’ll be sloppy without conscious effort.
