Our family's favorite camping product is the Osprey Poco LT child carrier. I still own a front facing child carrier made of cloth, but the real-deal backpack style child carrier is well worth the investment. It is gentle enough for mommy to handle and rugged enough for daddy to wear as well. On longer hikes, my husband and I can quickly adjust the straps and switch on and off carrying one of our two children in the Osprey. The Poco LT is the lightest of three child carriers from Osprey, and it can hold up to 49lbs. When not in use, it folds up compact and takes up little very little space in our gear. There is something so nice about being hands free when trekking the open trail -- kids also seem to love the experience of 'going for a ride'. An Osprey or similar back pack child carrier can really be a game changer for outdoor families with young children. Honorable mentions: Guava Pack-and-Play (great for containing toddlers for brief spells) and Veer All-Terrain Cruiser (incredible stroller wagon, great for hauling all your camping gear, as well as up to 4 children).
