As the Co-founder of Legacy Online School, I've seen firsthand how an LMS can make or break the online learning experience. We've worked with multiple platforms, including Canvas and Litmos, and while they both have strong points, we've also hit some roadblocks along the way. Canvas LMS is a powerhouse when it comes to flexibility. The customization options, third-party add-ons, and support for both K-12 and higher education are great. It is, however, daunting when numerous teachers (especially new-to-online-teaching teachers) have to deal with its complexity. It's not very user-friendly without proper orientation, and things can get hectic if not utilized optimally. For well-resourced schools to train up their staff properly, Canvas is a rockstar-but for less-resourced schools, it's a nightmare to implement. Litmos is the opposite, however, in being very easy to use, and having a clean, intuitive design that works perfectly for corporate training. But it's not well suited for a fully developed K-12 experience because it lacks some of the more complex engagement tools and classroom interactivity we need from younger students. It's great for delivering content in a well-crafted way but not so much for fostering teamwork and discussion, which are absolute virtual learning necessities.
