The one singular piece of technology that has improved my practice is the electronic medical record (EMR) specifically Epic EHR. I worked many decades old school paper charting, endless written narrative notes and squinting futilely to read Dr's orders. Epic has numerous features that integrate all departments, promote robust secure communication, include other health system visits, incorporate PCP collaboration and endless other nuances that ultimately streamline care and process flow. It has singlehandedly enhanced my practice adding safety allowances and communication promotion that definitely pays off in a seamless hospital experience and optimal outcomes.
