The tool i incorporate daily to improve quality of care is rather simple and lacks modern technology. It is actually the opposite. Face to face bedside communication is the number one action that aids in accurately assessing patients and their needs. An eyes on approach can truly tell a story that a novel of dictated notes cannot. At bedside in one visual swoop I can tell my patient's nutritional status, hygiene, social determinants of health, disparities, well being and emotional state. Verbal and nonverbal communication, facial cues and cultural nuances as well all can be gathered by one bedside visit. With all the talk of AI it's the good old fashioned bedside assessment that still provides the best data.
