One of the biggest career goals I'm currently working towards is expanding Ozzie Mowing & Gardening to include a dedicated garden design and consultation arm. Over the years, I've had so many clients come to me with ideas that just needed the right structure and horticultural knowledge to bring them to life. By creating a service that focuses purely on personalised garden design, I can help people transform their outdoor spaces from something functional into something truly special. The most impactful step I've taken toward this goal is investing in advanced design software and combining that with my hands-on horticultural knowledge. With over 15 years of experience and a formal qualification in horticulture, I know exactly how to match the right plants to the right conditions and make sure the design is not only beautiful but sustainable long-term. A recent project in the Dandenong Ranges really brought this to life. A client wanted a low-maintenance edible garden that would still look lush year-round. Thanks to my deep understanding of microclimates, soil types and plant pairings, I was able to design a layered space using native edibles and perennial herbs that thrive in that specific environment. The result was a garden that not only feeds the family but has become a standout feature of the home. Seeing that client's reaction reminded me why I do this and pushed me further toward building out this service as a core part of my business.
