A good option for enhancing the work environment for nurses is to bring the tools they need closer to the bedside. This helps to limit the number of required steps taken by the nurse, thus, increasing the time available to spend with patients. In order to identify items to focus on, spend a few hours shadowing several of your nurses. Make note of the items they repeatedly walk back and forth to retrieve. Of those items, evaluate if it is feasible to eliminate the extra steps by altering the way in which they are stocked and make the change. Focusing on this increases efficiency and sends a clear message to your nursing staff that you value their time and efforts and are committed to continuously improving their work environment.
I am passionate about enhancing the work environment for nurses. During the pandemic, I built a team of remote nurses who provided care for patients in their homes, allowing us to gain important insights into patient's health even from a distance. This remote care model not only supports patients, but offers nurses a flexible working environment. Now, I’m focused on creating more opportunities for nurses with the integration of advanced remote technologies and AI into daily practices to support hospitalized patients using VisionAI and Virtual Nursing. Remote nurses are now able to provide video-assisted care, such as handling admissions and discharges, and gain new insights through AI including early detection of pressure injuries. Additionally, AI helps track patient movement, allowing us to more accurately detect and prevent falls, and aid in discharge decisions based on patient mobility. By embracing these technologies, we’ve created non-traditional nursing roles that allow nurses to work remotely or in different capacities enhancing nurses work environment and job satisfaction without compromising patient care.
