I've tested pet DNA kits both for work and for my own dog. We got one for our rescue because we had no idea what he was, and it finally gave us a real answer on his breed mix. The health part is trickier though. I wouldn't lean too hard on those results since they're not as accurate as human tests. My advice? Use it as a fun starting point for a chat with your vet, not a diagnosis.

I'm not a vet, but I've talked to plenty of animal experts while making learning materials. Vets seem split on pet DNA tests. Some like them for spotting breed-related health issues, others say the results bounce around. We had a teacher try one in class, and different companies gave completely different breed results. I'd say these tests are fine for kicks, but if you're worried about your pet's health, call your actual vet.
