During the transitional seasons in Chicago, the weather is often the most difficult for me! There’s the possibility of rain, wind, humidity, hail, or all three at any given time. In these conditions, I require a functional garment that is able to keep me dry, warm, and cool whilst still looking stylish. So anytime before heading out I almost always fold up a lightweight packable rain jacket/shell. They’re durable, easy to store, and provide perfect coverage. The jackets are great for layering as well. On a warmer day I might only wear a tee, however, on a cooler day I’ll layer a fun knit or flannel. If anyone is looking for a shell I recommend the Beta AR from Arc'teryx in particular! It has a GORTEX body, vented sides and underarms for airflow, as well as plenty of toggles to adjust the hood and waist, making it the perfect jacket for any Chicagoan.
