Previously, we required them to work up to Saturday. We noted that this extended workweek contributed to increased burnout, which our team members were reporting. Since making the policy shift in January this year, we’ve noted improved employee productivity. Most are enthusiastic about their jobs and have posted better results since then. In their personal lives, more of our employees have taken up new hobbies that they engage in on the extra day of rest, and they seem happier and more connected with their friends and family. The response by employees to this shift to five working days has been positive and exceeded our expectations. We have consistently recorded 100% uptake of the extra rest day, indicating a willingness by our employees to recover and get back to work when more energized.

The working day can start any time between 7:00-10:00 and end anytime between 15:30-18:30. Everyone works a fixed 8 hour day and takes 30 minutes lunch break. In terms of work life balance, as you would imagine, this schedule provides options for parents, people travelling longer distances in rush hour, or simply giving staff have opportunity to do fun things outside of standard 9-5 work hours It has no detrimental effect on business operation with everyone having at least five working hours in the office together.
