Going to any doctor is stressful. I don't like it either but what I learned is knowing and going is essential. We have great benefits to go and get an eye exam each year. More importantly, to also get glasses. First, you should find a doctor who talks with you and not at you with a whole bunch of acronyms and medical jargon, it will definitely have your knees quaking. The appointment should only last about 30 minutes but depending on the visit and any medical history. Plan to mediate before you go to bring down stress but keep your cool because they will do a pressure test of your eyes and you want it to come back in a good range. Don't forget to bring your reading or seeing glasses and ask if they plan to dilute your eyes in case you also need to bring sunglasses and get a ride. Asking questions to a doctor who sees and values your concerns will lessen the stress but just know sometimes you will remain nervous. That's ok as you ask questions and build that relationship it will get better. I promise. The relationship makes the difference so you can look forward to the appointment instead of dreading it. Healthy eyes are essential at any age and getting in front of any issue helps to retain good vision, #imatter
