While many people appreciate the beauty of mountains or the beach, there isn't enough love for the natural beauty of the Texas countryside. More specifically, the area of central Texas that we refer to as the Hill Country is beautiful. One of the best places to visit with people of all ages is the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center. Whether you enjoy old, enormous trees, colorful wildflowers or water features, the Wildflower Center has all of the spaces to experience. It is especially beautiful in the fall and spring when certain native plants are in bloom. If you love Christmas lights, check out their Luminations exhibit in December.
The thing that really blew my mind in Texas was when I went to Franklin Barbecue in Austin. This place has earned a legendary reputation for its brisket, and experiencing it firsthand was incredible. I made sure to arrive early in the morning to get ahead of the long lines, and let me tell you, the wait was absolutely worth it. The brisket was everything it’s cracked up to be—smoky, tender, and with a perfect balance of flavor and texture. The deep, rich smoke infuses every slice, and the bark on the outside is incredibly flavorful. What impressed me just as much as the food was the dedication and passion of the team at Franklin Barbecue. The way they manage their operation is a testament to their commitment to quality. The brisket is smoked slowly and meticulously, with a dry rub that’s been perfected over years. You can really taste the care and attention they put into each cut of meat. It’s not just a meal; it’s a whole experience that highlights the craftsmanship behind true Texas barbecue.
