I suppose it has been my life experience that has given me the confidence to start my own personal brand and elevate my head above the parapet. My confidence has definitely evolved over time, from being quite a shy person to now really being at a point in my life where I can confidently say that not a lot fazes me. In my thirties, life got real, and I experienced multiple personal tragedies. The traumatic aftershocks affected my mental health and derailed my career, forcing me to move house multiple times with two babies in tow. But. Having experienced such a dramatic life reset cleared the way for a huge amount of growth. I have learned so much about myself, others, and life in general. I am no longer held back in my ambition, and my mindset change has accelerated my business success.
My biggest struggle was doing self-promotion, eg. posting on LinkedIn and sending out cold emails to potential clients. I had a belief that it seemed desperate and was afraid of people judging me. I landed one client through an application on their website and only worked with them for a few months. It had a MAJOR impact on my freelance business because I had only one client for months. At one point, they decided to pause their freelancer contracts. Overnight, I was left with no work and no income. That's when I realized I needed to change something. I took a step back and identified the issue — the harmful beliefs. And worked hard to change them. One thing that was really helpful was to remind myself that I'm a business. Whenever I hear that inner voice again, I ask myself: "What would a business do?" For example, I was delaying posting a stellar client testimonial on LinkedIn. So I told myself — a business wouldn't do that. A business would put that front and center.

This builds trust and authenticity, leading to business growth. For example, a female entrepreneur who runs a fitness studio can share her own journey of overcoming self-doubt and body image issues. By being vulnerable, she creates a safe space for her clients and builds a loyal community, ultimately impacting her business growth.
