I'm actually based in Maroochydore QLD, not Fort Mill, but I've experienced similar rapid growth dynamics since taking over Flinders Lane Cafe in May 2024. Our local area has seen significant population increases, and from a hospitality perspective, I can share some insights that might be relevant. The growth has been overwhelmingly positive for our business - we expanded from operating 3 days a week to 7 days, and our numbers are consistently up. More people means more potential regulars, and we've seen both familiar faces stick around and plenty of new ones finding us through word-of-mouth and social media. One change most people miss is how the service expectations have shifted. New residents often come from bigger cities with different cafe cultures, so they bring fresh perspectives on what they want from their local spot. We've had to balance maintaining our community feel while adapting our menu and service style to meet these evolving expectations. What I love most about rapid growth areas is the energy - there's this sense that everyone's building something together. People are more open to trying new places and becoming regulars because they're still establishing their routines in the area.
