A single resource that has profoundly influenced my teaching is Blaine Ray's TPRS. When I got hired as a Spanish teacher right out of college, my school district sent me to a workshop to learn how to "teach Spanish without any direct gramma instruction". I was like "huh???" It was unheard of for me at the time to teach a language without teaching grammar, and I was so confused. Fast forward 10 years and lots of experience and diving deeper into this, I never directly teach any grammar concepts to my students k-5th and they have incredible success at acquiring the language naturally and in a FUN WAY!
To foster continuous improvement I believe you need to encourage curiosity. I allow students the time to discuss topics amongst themselves so they may come to conclusions on their own and ask questions that may not be 100 percent on topic. I try to encourage students to find their own answers. I ask them to make an argument for a perspective they may not support so they can see multiple sides to a situation that they may not have considered before.
