I recorded a bunch of hour long interviews with podcast guests and gave the transcript to AI to create podcast show notes. Turns out that AI cannot accept more than 4000 characters input in a prompt. It keeps throwing an error if you do. So you need to read through the transcript and break it into multiple parts so each prompt has >4000 characters. For the future, I'd just record shorter interviews to save my time. Or break the transcript into multiple parts right after the interview.
AI seems like it would be a good idea, but the truth is, nothing can replace people with deep knowledge and understanding about wine. I had asked AI to help me create a wine list, curious if it would be able to do a good job. I specified I wanted options inspired by Italian food. It recommended a Sangiovese, several other wines, and a Chianti. When I asked if it was aware Sangiovese was the grape in Chianti, it apologized and chose another wine. If I had no knowledge of wine, I would not have known and put both wines on my menu. This is a great example that AI is not infallible.
I'm not an expert on bees but wanted to write an article on how to keep them as it was trending in the data I had. I used AI to provide me with some information on hives and bee types in the UK and took the information as accurate. After rewriting and publishing the article I reached out to some beekeeping associations for their thoughts. What they came back with is that my article was actually focussed on the United States versus The United Kingdom. The learning for me was that you absolutely have to fact check information that comes from AI and sometimes it's better to just write the article from scratch yourself with your own research.
The AI tool failed to generate creative and unique content, limiting the writer's ability to engage the audience. This highlighted the significance of human creativity. Next time, the writer would use the AI tool for inspiration, adding their own innovative ideas to enhance the content's originality. For example, when tasked with creating a blog post on travel destinations, the AI tool produced generic information found on popular travel websites. To overcome this limitation in the future, the writer would leverage the AI tool's research capabilities but infuse the content with personal experiences, unique insights, and lesser-known destinations to make it more captivating and original.
Freelance writers often utilize AI for proofreading and suggestions. Once, expecting an AI tool to refine an article's tone, it drastically changed the original meaning and context, making the content misaligned with the target audience. The expected nuanced human touch was lost. This mishap taught the importance of manual review post-AI editing. While AI is a great assistant, depending solely on it can be detrimental. Always cross-check AI-generated outputs for authenticity and accuracy.
AI tools backfired on freelance writers and content creators when the generated content lacked the emotional connection and personal touch that humans can provide. They expected the AI tool to create engaging and relatable content, but it produced robotic and impersonal pieces. This experience taught them the value of human creativity and empathy in content creation. Next time, they would incorporate AI as a tool to enhance their work, combining its efficiency with their unique perspective and emotional understanding.
The AI tool misunderstood the target audience's language preferences, resulting in content that was difficult to understand or culturally inappropriate. This failure taught me the significance of manually tailoring the AI-generated content to the specific audience. For instance, I expected the AI tool to generate content for a casual, trendy audience, but it produced formal and technical language instead. I learned that relying solely on AI can overlook important nuances. Next time, I will provide clearer instructions and review the AI-generated content thoroughly before publishing.
