This is by sourcing top-class subordinates that closely mirror your capacity and delegating to them accordingly. This frees up your time to increase your client pool and effectively raise your remuneration for the now-reduced hours you actively spend on tasks. This is what I mean by DUPLICATING yourself. Let us assume you charge $50/hr. So instead of asking your clients for $80/hr, you can invest in contractors who deliver close to your levels at $30/hr. Consequently, instead of doing the tasks end-to-end, you simply put the finishing touches. THE QUALITY MUST NOT DROP! With more time on your hand, you can source more clients and delegate accordingly. The larger client pool increases your net earnings after paying the contractors actively doing the job. Ultimately, your hourly rates increase without each client paying more!
As this year comes to a close, it is best to evaluate where your personal business was, as a freelancer, at the end of 2021. If you have made significant increases to your client pool, and you are financially stable, I feel that a raise would be totally understandable as we approach 2023. I feel that is the most accurate measuring stick you can use as a freelancer; just compare yourself to yourself. If your personal brand is thriving and you have more business than you did a year ago, that is worth celebrating.
