A native contact has my preferred style for QR Codes - vCard based rather than hosted profile or landing page. I believe the vCard QR Code is portable, private and future proof. To create the QR code I access my actual contact card with either iOS Shortcuts or a trusted vCard QR Code generator that produces a .vcf based code. When scanned, the contact will automatically open on the person's phone, ready to save with just one tap to tap save. No redirecting to a different page, no ads and no risk of broken links later. I would never use a QR code that points to a profile or third-party web page because they have the potential to fail when tools no longer operate correctly or the URL changes. A vCard QR Code is encapsulated entirely. It can be scanned and used offline and on multiple devices. When you have created something that will be shared quickly and repeatedly, you need your QR Codes to be simplified and owned rather than designed.
I prefer using the LinkedIn app's built-in QR code. This is good as it creates a deeper connection with a contact as they can see my ongoing updates. It's great if you are connecting in a B2B setting. It also stays current as my profile updates, whereas QR codes to other areas such as a website aren't as dynamic and personal.
I prefer using simple QR tools that allow me to link directly to a digital contact card with my branding included. This makes it easy for people to save my information instantly while still knowing exactly who the code comes from. Simplicity and trust matter more to me than advanced features.
