As Chief Science Officer at GenCanna, I often use genetic screening to optimize hemp strains and ensure safe, high-quality CBD products. One technique I find invaluable is high-resolution DNA sequencing. By analyzing a hemp plant's genetome, I can identify strains with the highest CBD and terpene content and minimal THC. For example, we finded a hemp strain in our library containing 23% CBD and undetectable THC - an ideal candidate for broad-spectrum CBD oil. Using sequencing data, we bred this plant and produced a proprietary, THC-free hemp cultivar containing up to 26% CBD. This allowed us to formulate a line of THC-free CBD topicals and tinctures with improved potency and effectiveness. Sequencing also allows us to screen for contaminants and toxins to improve safety and compliance. I've used it to check for heavy metals, pesticides, and pathogenic microbes in our extracts and finished goods. By leveraging the precision of genetic testing, we produce the purest, most potent hemp products on the market while ensuring consumer safety. For any company selling hemp or CBD, genetic screening is a must.
