Why are Filipinos ritual-loving? Filipinos are ritualistic because rituals act as a link between the spiritual world and the mundane. They offer comfort, continuity and community. In a place where family and faith are paramount, rituals proclaim membership in the community, aiding people as they move through ambiguity with symbolic acts of protection or blessing. How did our rites originate? Our rituals are syncretic, woven from animism and outside influences. combatants held animist beliefs, and paid homage to spirits (anito) with offerings and rituals.
