I've always been a proponent of morning stand ups, a relic of my time spent as a programmer. There is no real substitute for being able to meet for 10 minutes at the start of the workday to ascertain what everyone is working on, what progress has been made and what blockers need to be removed for the work to flow smoothly. I've heard other people say that this is a waste of time that would be better spent elsewhere, but I've yet to run into a day of operations where those 10 minutes spent didn't save more than 10 minutes for the team.
