The biggest thing I can do as an HR professional is to create a forum to speak openly about the realities of struggling with / prioritizing mental health, and to help remove the stigma behind it. Our company culture of flexibility and transparency help support this, as does our robust time off policy. I audit time off regularly and reach out to employees that have low usage, on an individual basis, to encourage them to take their well-deserved time away from work, as well as see what barriers exist that may prevent them from feeling like they can step away. I also make an effort to empower managers to do the same, in supporting their team and setting the example.
