Having someone's trust is an honor and a privilege that should not be abused. Confidentiality is one way to illustrate this. In group work, confidentiality should be defined clearly and addressed at the beginning. I review rules and expectations, clarify any questions to have each member be a conscious participant. In my experience, I had a member of my group also be a coworker from another agency location. It was particularly challenging for me because of the agency's policies, coworker's desire to be there, respecting the ethics of my work in confidentiality and my own countertransference feelings about this overall experience. Privacy should not be a luxury, know your own with the system's code of ethics and seek out ethic with boundary resources when needed.
