Can you share a time when solar energy significantly reduced your energy bills? What factors contributed to this reduction?

I'm not sure if this counts, but a while back, I installed a solar heater on my roof to cut down on gas bills, as I was using gas to heat my house.This brought my bills down to almost zero for most of the year, except for a few months when we get less sunlight.
