In my experience, the sweet spot for IBS-D is one enteric-coated peppermint oil capsule (around 180 mg) about 45 minutes before meals--far enough from food to reduce cramping, but not so close that it causes reflux. One of my clients, a busy executive constantly eating on the go, saw her post-lunch bloating and pain nearly disappear after sticking to this timing for two weeks. The shift also reminded her to slow down, chew well, and treat the meal as fuel, not just a task.
