For my clients where this is relevant, we use a number of short and sharp templates to prompt happy customers to leave a review. I used to reject text for being impersonal but it has become very highly effective for us in collecting reviews since there is a critical level of immediacy vs wiating for an email to be made. If not, I'd love to be able to add you to our list of happy client reviews for the website. Could you text me back a couple lines about how I helped make your trip better and possibly send a couple photos that we can use too?" This example provides three important things - 1) it lets them know that as a travel advisor, your job isn't done till they are safe and satisfied back home 2) it gives you a review to share 3) It gives you images to share on social media that not only show a happy customer - but potentially stimulates others to think about booking a cruise or a resort trip.

This approach ensures that your customers feel valued and understand the significance of their feedback.
Incentivize reviews - and make the rewards easy to reap. Text messaging is all about convenience, so if you’re asking for reviews via SMS, you need to create incentives that don’t require users to jump through hoops to earn the rewards. Let users know that if they leave an honest review, they’ll receive a discount code or free product code by SMS within ‘X’ minutes of review completion. When you make rewards hard to use, you won’t achieve the same levels of participation and if it’s especially difficult or deceptive, you may even alienate your customer base and sway their brand experience negatively.
Keep the first sentence of your text short and catchy. If it’s a mouthful, then it’s too long for a text message. Make sure that it is an impactful line, too, and not something that sounds generic. “Hey [customer’s name], we’re here to listen to you. We’d love to hear about your recent experience with us through this short survey. No worries, it will only take a minute of your time!”

If your business is service-based, you should send a request immediately after the service concludes. If your business is product-based, it might be in your best interest to allow a few days or weeks to pass to request a review. Remember to offer an incentive to thank the clients who took their time to review. The incentive program can also be a motivator to encourage clients to review.

You’ll have better luck with a question that goes beyond “What was your experience?” Ask something more specific that might invoke a particular memory, like “What was the best or worst part of your experience with us?” The former leaves things open-ended, while the latter gives some direction to the review that also reduces the mental barriers users can feel to come up with something to say.
