I sourced 2 of Slim Aarons' most iconic photos -- Poolside Glamour and Desert House Party -- for a home I designed in Palm Springs. Aarons was known for capturing the glamorous lifestyle of his time. These large-scale prints are on display when you first walk into the house, which immediately orients visitors to the quintessential environment and culture of the popular desert city. The vibrant colors and fabulously dressed subjects in the photos echo the style of the space, which is filled with bright colors, fun wallpaper, and chic touches, including black and white striped poolside cabanas.
We sourced a beautiful piece of artwork for a client's family room that perfectly complemented both the serene lake views outside and the newly designed interiors. The artwork featured soft, water-inspired hues and abstract textures that echoed the natural surroundings, creating a seamless connection between the indoors and outdoors. Its calming tones balanced the room's modern furnishings, while adding a layer of sophistication and warmth. This unique piece became a key element that tied the entire space together.

"The design intention for my Textures in Lilac project was to create a home that complemented the client. She was a summer so the palette appropriate for her consists of soft neutrals and pastels such as powder blue, dusty pink, mauve, lavender, and white with a tinge of pale yellow. A summer person is flattered by soft colors with blue undertones. Based on this, art by Tobias Tovera was selected that set the tone for the summer palette. The goal was to have a warm color palette and a cool color palette to differentiate rooms, but all the colors compatible to the client. Working with the color palette as the starting point, Rachel added layered textures and luxurious materials to achieve a cozy and stylish. In the living room, shades of cerulean and lilac paired with soft gray and white furniture. The dining room walls received a hand painted texture in dusty mauve. A large textured geometric patterned rug in soft grey on the floor harmonized the look. Accents in mauve and cerulean were added to the design through fabrics, window treatments, and artwork. The resulting design was calmly colorful pulled together with a brushstroke." - Rachel Blindauer https://rachelblindauer.com/lilac-textural-glamour/
One unique piece of art that I've sourced for a client to complement their living room space, using both form and function, was a geared wall clock, 29 inches diameter made with a brass clock face and a glass cover. This timepiece finished size is 32 x 32 inches. It was meant to encourage mindfulness and consciousness of time as my client adjust to a new life of living on their own for the first time in 25+ years, and to symbolize progress and evolution. A constant reminder that time passes and to ceasing every opportunity to grow and evolve. As a complement to the space, this beautiful piece of art became the focal point of the space, an object with dimensional appeal and movement of time in accents of gold. Most importantly, its visibility is a constant reminder of time constraints that need to be adhere to and cease opportunities for daily growth in their new environment. In conclusion, the clock is still the most unique piece that the client still enjoys--years later after giving birth to her first son, graduating with a master's degree and purchasing a new home. Time travels but timepiece "art" continues to inspire us!
Interior designers prioritize unique art that aligns with the client's vision and enhances a space's aesthetic. For a high-end residential property, a bespoke botanical mural was commissioned, reflecting the client's love for nature and promoting tranquility. Thorough research and collaboration with the artist ensured the mural matched the client's preferences. Strategically placed as a focal point, its color palette harmonized with existing furnishings, creating an inviting atmosphere.
