Hello! My colleague Olga Vinichuk (LinkedIn, photo), Lead Business Analyst at ScienceSoft, shared her perspective on the topic. Please find her unique insights below, which we hope will add substantial value to your article. Your question: Can you share an experience where IoT devices played a crucial role in your insurance product development? Answer: One of our recent projects was a telematics software product for usage-based vehicle insurance. At the core of the product was an IoT data processing engine that captured and analyzed fleet telematics in real time. The engine transmitted insights directly to client-facing apps, letting fleet managers and insurers monitor vehicle state, location, shipping conditions, and driver behavior. IoT connectivity was paramount for real-time fleet data gathering. One challenge we faced was that disparate vehicle devices relied on different telemetry protocols, which complicated centralized data processing. To overcome this, we developed 20 custom data unification algorithms tailored to the specific telemetry protocols of various IoT devices. This solution enabled the system to recognize and process data on 100B+ vehicle events from hundreds of various devices.
