I’ve seen divorcees get blindsided by the deception they dealt with, not only during the divorce, but prior to it. A spouse’s moral deficiencies often lead to divorce - adultery, greed, lies, etc. But people often come away shocked at just how mean-spirited and deceptive people become during a divorce – and it’s people they previously loved. Always prepare for the worst to come out of people in that situation and always prepare to hold the line. If you make concessions to certain people, they will keep pushing until they get more from you. Get an attorney who will be your rock in those moments. If you were the one who had all the integrity in the relationship, you will end up the winner if you stick to your guns. Don’t give in to someone who is full of spite and tries to deceive and manipulate their way to a better settlement.
