Good leaders consider the mental health of their employees to be paramount and much of the work of optimizing mental health is promoted by example. As leaders in our workplace, we've taken, and encouraged others to take, breaks and walks during the day. Going further, we provide snacks, treats, beverages and meals, too. It's important for employees to see you take breaks during the day and relax as well. If you're always working, not giving yourself a break or space to collect your thoughts and focus on something else besides work, then your employees will do the same. We optimize better mental health in our workplace by taking time off, going for ice cream breaks and taking personal calls or walks outside -- it encourages our employees to do the same and we commend them for it, too.
We think that any mental health program should be introduced before to know what the people need and what are their priorities. For that reason, our first step was to make a mental health survey. Fun: we've created a Fun Club where employees can participate in events such as board game nights and team-building activities outside of office hours. This allows everyone to socialize with colleagues outside their teams while having some fun! Kindness: we recently launched a "Be Kind Week" initiative within our company wherein every department plans special activities aimed at showing kindness towards one another - from small gifts to shared meals - which serves both morale-boosting purposes and encourages further collaboration between teams across our organization. These initiatives have been very successful so far, and we plan on continuing them to keep up morale among everyone working at our company!
