When I think of hotels that are really worth the splurge, and even when I recommend them to clients - I want to think beyond the thread count or how many Michelin stars are on property. For me, it's about the experience that comes from a splurge worthy place. In the Caribbean, my heart strings get pulled by: Belmond Cap Juluca, Anguilla - Your feet hit the sand and it's heaven. The service alone makes you feel like you arelivingroyalty but in themostlaidback place you can imagine. The Moorish design, the water that's every shade of blue it's that true escape. Necker Island - Well renting a private island is pretty much the splurge of all splurges. It's fun, it's over-the-top in the best way, and it's one of those "how is this even real?" moments. Cheval Blanc St. Barths - Take me to St. Tropez but make it the Caribbean. That's splurge. In Europe, it gets harder because the list of places worth it is endless, but a few always stay at the top of mine: Castello di Vicarello, Tuscany - This is fairytale. For the ultimate romantic Tuscan splurge this gem is tops. Le Sirenuse, Positano - If Almafi were making a dramatic moment this hotel is it. That red facade against the cliffside never gets old, and there's just something about having an Aperol spritz on the terrace that feels cinematic. Passalacqua, Lake Como - Clooney got nothing on this. It's iconic meets royalty rolled up into exquisite italiam charm on the lake. Octola Lodge, Lapland - Private wilderness, reindeer outside your window, Northern Lights overhead. It's splurge-worthy because there's nowhere else like it. Parisi Udvar, Budapest - the hotel is magical but the Penthouse is splurge worthy at it's finest. full size spa room and hamman and complete wrap around patio with incredible city views Le Bristol Paris & Rosewood Hotel de Crillon - Two different but splurge worthy equals when it comes to Paris. Le Bristol givesyour that classic elegance with a sense of old hollywood glam. The tea time there is one of the most elegant. Hotel de Crillon feels grand and historic at the same time, as if you were a Parision artistocrat. Two very different takes on Paris luxury, both equally special. Gstaad Palace, Switzerland - Think Grace Kelly meets Mick Jagger. It's got polished, old-world glamour where everything seems timeless and regal, but just enoughplayful, party spirit keep things lively.
A few hotels really do justify the splurge Hotel Arts Barcelona in Spain, Badrutt's Palace in St. Moritz, Switzerland and Eden Rock in St. Barths. Each of these hotels goes beyond comfort and amenities - they create an experience. At Hotel Arts I loved waking up to Mediterranean views while sipping coffee on my private balcony and the local art installations made every corridor feel like a gallery. Badrutt's Palace combines alpine charm with excellent service; one evening the concierge arranged a private sleigh ride followed by cheese fondue under the stars. Eden Rock stands out for its total privacy, beachfront access and personal touches - like a chef customizing a seafood platter to my liking before sunset. These hotels succeed because they anticipate desires you didn't even know you had, they curate memories not commercials. Splurging here isn't just about luxury - it's about a personal experience.
One hotel that consistently sets the bar for luxury travel in the Caribbean is The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman. More than just a five-star property, it offers a seamless blend of world-class hospitality with the natural beauty and adventure that make the Cayman Islands such a bucket-list destination. What makes it stand out: Unmatched location & amenities: Stretching along the island's most famous stretch of sand, Seven Mile Beach, the Ritz-Carlton offers pristine beachfront, two pools, a championship golf course, and one of the Caribbean's top spas. Culinary excellence: Home to Blue by Eric Ripert, the only AAA Five Diamond restaurant in the Caribbean, the hotel delivers dining experiences as memorable as the setting itself. Guest impressions: "We've had many guests tell us it feels like having their own yacht moored right outside the resort.
