Regular and consistent follow-up communications is one essential method for effectively implementing a major company change. At Go Technology Group, a leading Managed IT Services provider based in Chicago, following up is not just something we implement within our leadership, but also aim to provide as a service to our clients from within our helpdesk team as a function of more holistic customer service. Integrating sales-related services into a technician’s role is not easy, but it is essential for delivering a higher caliber of client support. To foster this (innovative) type of culture within our organization, I began by performing regular follow-up communications with team members and utilizing tools such as Microsoft Teams to provide them support. By incorporating discussions on the change, its rationale, and how it aligned with our customer service goals into our meeting agendas, I encouraged open dialogue and addressed concerns. Additionally, I leveraged technology tools to provide templates for use, offered ongoing updates on team progress, showcased examples of success, and provided guidance on handling sales inquiries within the helpdesk framework. This approach garnered a positive response from employees, resulting in enriched inquiry among clients and colleagues alike, enhanced teamwork, and ultimately more comprehensive customer service.
Employing impactful methods to communicate major company changes is important for a positive employee response. One method I had used was organizing an in-person Lunch and pizza party. This effectively fostered open dialogue and community. It also allowed for transparent communication that was continued in the workplace, enhancing employee morale and understanding of company changes. The positive response to the in-person gathering demonstrated the value of genuine human connection highly needed during the period of change.
