While I serve as CEO, I also oversee the clinical and operational strategy across our platform--so managing competing demands is part of daily life. The key to prioritising in a healthcare environment is understanding what has the greatest impact on patient safety, regulatory compliance, and business scalability. Everything else follows. One strategy I use religiously is the "Weighted Impact Matrix"--a tool we developed in-house. It allows us to score tasks and projects based on urgency, strategic alignment, and risk. For example, if a supplier integration delays lab test turnaround times, it gets immediate attention because it directly affects patient experience and operational reliability.
Delegation and not micromanaging my team are the key to prioritization of my role as the medical director. By trusting in my team and the decisions they execute, I am able to focus on decisions requiring a physician's expertise. Each day, I set goals for the day. I make a short checklist and leave it on my desk. As each task is complete, I make a checkmark next to the item. This strategy has proven time and time again to be successful for me.
